Josh & Michelle: married.

Peas in a pod. Chips and salsa. Shoes and socks. Thelma and Louise. These are all things that go together, and for many many years, this is how I would describe my own relationship with Michelle. We. Just. Went. Together. We were best friends, having known each other since just before junior high. I’ll still never forget one of the first things I got to find out about her. She’s a mini clone of Mariah Carey. Has a voice truly gifted from God. And there is no mistaking the sounds she could pull out of that tiny mouth of hers. She is funny, silly, dorky and nerdy. All of those things put together make her insanely gorgeous inside and out. She’s a great mom. She’s smart and witty. She loves love, and all the things that come along with that. I think we may have been planning her wedding in junior high, because of course she was going to marry that guy she went to the movies with, or the one who took her to the homecoming dance, or was it the one who took her to the Valentine’s dance right ?

Because I was her best friend and we were seriously inseparable like mac n cheese, I always knew she deserved the best life had to offer, and the very best love had to offer also. And so, several years ago she headed across the country in search of something. I look at her life now and think the west coast has never looked so good on her, and though I wish she would have a change of heart and come crawling back to the crazy Midwest--I choose to see why she’s so darn happy. Why she’s so darn gorgeous still. And why I know she may continue to chase those California waves of goodness for the next few years at least.

His name is Josh. Her path across the country lead her to find her new best friend, led her to find what she’s been searching for since those awkward junior high days of Valentine’s crushes homecoming dances. He loves her silly, adores her dorky, and accepts her nerdy, and I know he’s got to love that voice from God. She is a gift, a total package and perfect for him.

So while I know I may not experience the changing of the seasons with my best friend here in Indiana (at least for awhile---hey, I’m still gonna beg the girl to move back right?!), I know she’s just a phone call away. She’ll always be the breadstick to my alfredo boat. I’ll be the Romy, she’ll be the Michelle. We’ll invent post-it’s together! And laugh until our stomach hurts or our face falls off, or we pee on the floor together! Best friends are unique and special and I thank God daily for her. I praise God for molding and shaping Josh and making him the man he is today and for accepting her and loving her and Kirsten like his own.

Michelle, I know you skipped ahead and looked at the photos before scrolling back to the top to read this. I know you love a good story, and I have been trying to tell you this for awhile now. It’s hard to send your bestest best best best BEST friend half across the world and not want to follow. I now know why you had to get there, so you could get hand in hand with Josh. I’ll have to scoot some things around to make him fit into my life too now, so maybe a third wheel won’t be so bad right?! I am happy you found each other, the one God has made for you, and love seeing you finally, truly happy and in love. I really have been planning your wedding for years now, and it was just about perfect---accept that your maidofhonorphotographer was M.I.A…oh well, at least you got fabulous photos right! Love you more than you know!
