meichelle. brittany. brigitte: family.

These pictures make me smile so much because I'm just in love with the ladies in them! Brittany was fortunate to be a Bodell Photography bride in 2010, and it's been a love affair with this family ever since! I'm fortunate to have gotten to know them, and was so excited to catch up, even just for a few short moments when we shot these. Meichelle, you're a lovely lady, truly inspiring and you look just amazing in these pictures. Your spirit shines from within and your girls are lucky to have you as their mom! Now Brittany, come back to town this summer so we can all go have lunch. I promise to wear 'weather appropriate' foot attire next time too! You would have thought I was ready for the beach! I just have a bad history with socks--can't stand them! Must be the farm girl in me!

I'm thrilled with these photos and can't wait for you all to see the rest! Thanks again Brittany for giving these gifts to your mom. I'm sure she'll just love them! Here are a few of my favs from that bitter cold day!

brian. julie. jared: family.

If you follow the blog at all, you've been fortunate to see some of my very favorite people! I have been photographing Jared and Julie for several years now, and watching little Jared get so big is downright crazy! Probably because he makes me feel sooo old! He's truly the cutest little guy ever, and he totally knows it! And Julie knows exactly how to make my day, by dressing Jared in the most adorable outfit! Have you ever seen such a cute hat?

Brian and Julie! I mean it when I say we should really live closer so we can actually get together outside of 'photo' world! Although I'll take having Carolyn living next door to mom, and the off chance you'll make an appearance at the holidays over there, any day! Makes for the best Halloween's ever right?! I can't wait to watch your little family grow and Julie, you and Jared have been so much fun getting to know along the way. Brian, you've got some catching up to do! Thanks for sitting in the snow with me for these pictures! They are just lovely!

chad. karen. nicholas: family.

I had met Karen several years ago in my college days. She was the resident director of Shatford House, the dorm we stayed in our freshman year. Although she wasn't my RD, she was great friends with several of my friends, and so it was no surprise to see her as a bridesmaid in one of my very first "real" weddings. My dear friend Lynn allowed me to be her wedding photographer and I still remember the defining moment in my career at this very wedding. Now, I have shared this story with Karen, but this is probably the first time Lynn has heard this story! Somewhere in between shots of the groom and groomsmen, and the family shots, we took time to photograph our lovely bride and her girls. This wasn't my first wedding, so I totally thought I knew what I was doing! I was working my so called magic, getting the shots I really thought were going to be the best shots in the world! It was somewhere about then that Karen said to me something along the lines of getting shots that were more unique, more story telling, more artsy and fun! Didn't she know I was totally already getting this type of shot?! Well, truly I wasn't, and we all took the time to perfect this shot of the girls walking down the street. No one else may even remember this process going down, but I tell you what, when I finally got THE picture, it was literally like the film gods parted the sky and my flash bulb went off! THE picture was phenomenal, nothing like the photos I had ever taken, and I was in love, and it was all thanks to Karen! Now, I still look back through those first few weddings photos, and Lynn's specifically I just truly love so many of them. Sure, I see my faults, yes, I see the underexposed ones and the poorly executed shots. But THE shot. Oh it was dreamy! And it turned my entire career around, making me into who I am today! All thank to Lynn and her beautiful wedding, and Karen, the lovely bridesmaid!

So Karen, when I heard from you, I was super excited to be able to connect with you again after all these years and tell you that little story! And now you have a great husband and little Nicholas who is about one of the best little guys I've ever met! You all are just gorgeous so of course I was thrilled to get you these photos! And the snow oh my soul, just made this shoot sublime! Just so you know Karen, the ONE, THE ONE shot of the three of you, up at the top of the bog right now, is likely one of my all time favorites! One day, when I am blessed enough to have a gallery, THIS shot will hang on a gallery wrapped canvas print, and probably just about as big as I can afford, with a big ol spotlight shining right on it! Just love it, and I just love you for shining your light on me, even thought you probably didn't even know you were! I absolutely can't wait to see you all again next time! Thanks again for coming out for the shoot with me!

luke. lisa. liviah: family.

I've known Lisa and Luke for years now and their baby girl is just one of the cutest little ladies ever! She's so sassy and such a happy little girl and she loved having her pictures taken, which is always awesome for me! Another mini winter session, these were done pretty quick, with a couple trips to the heated car so we could warm up! So worth it though, I just love a great session out in the snow! Lisa, Luke, it's always great to see you two and hear what's going on in your lives. You both are so great with Liviah and wonderful parents for her! She's a lucky lady! Thanks for spending those few minutes in the snow with me!

joe & windi.

I was so excited to meet Windi! We had emailed back and forth a few times and I was thrilled when we finally got to meet in person! I just love someone that I feel like I've known for years after just the first five minutes of meeting! And how adorable are these two four legged babies?!

Windi, Joe, thanks for spending 20 minutes on that wintry afternoon with me! That photo of you two with the trees, I'm simply in love with it! I hope you frame your walls with that one! You both were truly a joy to have met, and I hope we get to meet for at least a drink or coffee in our near future, or perhaps even more photos when it warms up! Here are a few of my faves from that day!
